To verify the accuracy of fixture S-parameters de-embedding algorithms under different conditions. The methodology is based on being able to do a NIST traceable calibration measurement of the DUT and of the DUT plus test fixture. This then allows comparing the results of any de-embedding algorithm with the measured DUT. A kit will soon be available composed of several small printed circuit boards with coaxial edge connectors was developed for wideband digital applications. Critical for this methodology is the use of calibration grade coaxial adapters to create a NIST traceable measurement reference plane.
To test this concept, a PCB kit shown was developed and manufactured and consists of DUT and fixture test coupons for plug and play measurement combinations. There are two DUT test coupons: a 6 cm 50 Ohm microstrip line and a 6 cm Beatty standard. There are three different test fixture coupons: a 6 cm 50 Ohm microstrip line, a 6 cm 50 Ohm microstrip line with 2 vias in series and a 6 cm 45 Ohm microstrip line. The kit also contains the required calibration grade adapters and a flush (zero length) short.
This kit is still being is being evaluated and it will soon be available from DVT Solutions, LLC (sales@gigaprobes.com ) manufactured by Signal Microwave (bill@signalmicrowave.com).
There will be three kits: 1) 1.85 mm kit to support de-embedding algorithms verification +50Ghz, 2) 2.92 mm Kit to support 40Ghz and 3) just the coupon boards where you can add you own connectors and adapters should you have them available.
Please contact us if you have any questions and would like to be put on the pre order contact list and notified of their availability when we have a ship date available. Regards, Brian Shumaker sales@gigaprobes.com
